"Matsunoki" was the area in Tokyo my obaachan and ojiichans (grandma/grandpa) house was. When thinking about a design I wanted to incorporate a part of her traditional Japanese house with my favorite yokai (Japanese folklore creatures). I had an uncle who was a writer for the manga "Ge Ge Ge no Kitaro", which was all about good and bad yokai. I wanted to have the yokai come out after everyone was sleeping, and enjoying some good sake and izakaya type foods.
